As a wee kid, Emma loved her tricycle; as an undergrad, she loved her city cruiser; and more recently, she fell in love with a racer.
Emma had saved up for months and months to buy herself a very special bike: Lilly, a Boardman Road Comp bike (if that doesn't mean much to you, just think speedy).
Emma and Lilly had a lot of fun together - if you call going to Majorca to do an Iron-man 'fun'. It's fair to say Emma was pretty protective over her pride and joy, refusing to leave her out on the street, ever. Until one time...
One sunny July afternoon, for the first time ever, Emma securely but nervously locked Lilly to a bike rack as she popped briefly into a shop.
Five minutes later, the chain was hacked through and Lilly was gone.
Emma was distraught. She still is.
But you can help.
It’s Emma’s birthday on September 12th, and we want to get her a very special present: a new Lilly.
We know that Emma has a ridiculous number of wonderful friends, and we hope that you'll want to contribute towards buying her a new bike. The idea is that each friend can buy a different bit of the bike – a wheel to a spoke, the frame to a brake cable. You choose.
Only once we've reached our target of £700*, and so raised enough money to buy the whole bike, will any of your money be taken. Clever, huh?
We'll then hold a wee party when we'll surprise Emma with the best present ever, and a list of everyone who's given her part of the bike (alongside which bit they've given).
