We will provide the space and support for your community ideas. You provide the ideas and passion and come down to get involved.
Can't watch the video? Here's what it said...
Envirolution has just become Envirolution Network Limited. We started as a journey of a few of us getting together, sharing ideas and seeing how we could get involved in the Manchester environmental movement. We did this through amazing environmental events, this had led us now to become a Manchester cooperative. We are very excited about the future; getting involved with and starting our own projects within the communities of Manchester.
A large part of Envirolution being here today is from the support of the communities and people who live in Manchester. The major funding of the two events we have done in the past has come from the community, through our own funding activity. This was built on by our first 2012 fundraiser that was very successful.
Now we are at the stage that we want to get involved with a community space. So we can bring Envirolution in to that community. Where we can have a presence to build mutual relationships with the businesses to spread the message of what their trying to do. Whilst allowing the community to participate in Envirolution, to share their ideas, and we can then facilitate these ideas and make them happen.
We would like to offer workshops around biodiversity, skill sharing, up-cycling and many more. There are endless amounts of activity you could come and do in the space, supported by discussions that will hopefully be the catalyst for a lot of great projects taking off in your community.
This peoplefund.it bid will allow you to become a member from the very beginning and help us get this project off the ground.
When will we open?
The hope is to open the cafe at the beginning of the summer 2012. This fund will allow you to become involved from the very beginning showing your support by buying a voucher that you can spend in the cafe over one of the 8 evenings it will be open.
Are we a Business or Charity?
Envirolution is a ‘society for the benefit of the community’. This means that we operate within Manchester to showcase environmental solutions and that any excess that we make goes back into the community. We aim to work like a workers cooperative, with people being able to have the benefits whilst they are participating in Envirolution, but with the profits being shared with the community.
For this project we have created a mutual relationship with Craftelicious (www.crafteliciousuk.com) that means the money raised through peoplefund.it will allow the cafe to open once a week for 8 weeks (when it is normally closed, specifically for Envirolution) Any extra funds raised on the evenings will then be put back into the project to allow us to develop the idea and host more evenings.
Who are we?
Envirolution has been working for the past two years to promote and showcase the inspiring solutions to social and environmental issues. We have done this through two environmental events and are now looking to build on this and bring Envirolution into more communities through events and other projects.

Envirolution was co-founded by Bob Walley, Dawn Kendall, Fee Gallagher, Matthew Rowe, Paul Mitchell and Yoseph Williams.
Bob is a freelance Environmental Artist who has been working with Envirolution for over two years and is now the Treasurer. After running community projects for the last ten years raising awareness of important issues like climate change and sustainability, Bob is very happy to be part of the Envirolution team making a positive impact in Manchester.
Dawn has been working with Envirolution for just over one year as Volunteer Coordinator and has also recently become the Secretary for the group when they formalised as a cooperative. Dawn has always had a keen interest in the Environment and issues surrounding sustainability, she welcomed the chance to join Envirolution and to be able to put her spare time to something so positive.
Fee was initially involved with Envirolution as a volunteer in 2010 and since graduating from university continued to work with the initiative, becoming a founding member. She would like to share the positive effect Envirolution has had on her life with more people in Manchester.
Matthew has been working with Envirolution for over two years and is passionate about creating spaces where communities can be inspired and share ideas. He is also currently secretary of Chorlton Big Green Festival and you can find him serving bread at the Barbakan in Chorlton.
Paul is a lecturer at Salford University and has been there to help over the past 12 months when Envirolution has come calling. Envirolution allows Paul to exploit his creative and practical skills to become an essential part of the cooperative.
Yoseph works for a design company in Manchester. He was studying at Salford University when he designed the Envirolution logo as part of his final year project. What started as a university module developed into a passion for what Envirolution is working to create in Manchester.
Where are we?
We are looking at starting the Envirolution Community Cafe in Chorlton and are working with Craftelicious. We will be hosting an Envirolution evening at the cafe over 8 weeks bringing you workshops, speakers, entertainment and a lot more.
Why do we need you?
We will be creating a creative and inspiring community space... we need you to get involved and use it.
How can you help?
1. Making a pledge
We can only make this project work if you get involved and support what we are doing. Your pledge will not only offer us the money to make this happen but show that you want this project to happen.
The pledges are similar to the concept of community supported agriculture. What we are really offering is the chance to support us by buying some goods before we open. Just think of it as pre-ordering some food, drinks and workshops.
2. Telling people about Envirolution Community Cafe
Liking us on Facebook and following us on twitter will also help. Show your friends our website, or send them a link to this page or our video or tell the people on your street- by spreading the word you'll be helping us to find other potential supporters which will really help.
What's in it for you?
1. Rewards
Every backer will receive the rewards listed on the right hand side of this page next to the pledge amounts. We want to make this really simple so we are offering £10 and £30 pledges. This will give you the same value of vouchers to spend at the Envirolution Community Cafe evenings.
2. Satisfaction
You’ll be a member of the project from the very beginning and be a crucial part of the Envirolution Community Cafe becoming a reality, which you should be very proud of. You will not only have the satisfaction of knowing that you were instrumental in getting the project off the ground but you can help us shape it.
3. Opportunities
This will be an 8 week taster to explore what a space like this can create within the community. We will be offering workshops and discussions but its more than that. It will be a chance for you to come find what exciting projects are happening in your community and share ideas about what you would like to see happen in the future.
Why £2,000?
We have chosen the figure of £2000 to cover the costs of the workshops, the space and staff over 8 weeks. Envirolution will be putting our time and energy into making this happen with no initial financial gain and Craftelicious will be operating initially on a non-profit basis. We are determined to make this project work and will not be rewarded until it has been a success.
