PROJECT UPDATE
I managed to pick up a bit of press whilst campaigning on Peoplefund.it. This was a great added bonus!
You can read all about the campaign to save The Old Lock Up Studio on This is Derbyshire: http://www.thisisderbyshire.co.uk/Local-artist-launches-crowd-funding-bid-save/story-18136090-detail/story.html#axzz2KrdIpiGC
The Belper News also thought our appeal was worth a mention: http://www.belpernews.co.uk/lifestyle/appeal-to-help-save-cromford-studio-1-5445285
I founded The Old Lock Up Studio in 2012, after successfully raising over £1,700 through crowdfunding with We Did This in February 2012. following this huge success I formed a collective of 4 artists & makers at the studio during 2012. I was overwhelmed by the support I received during my crowdfunding in early 2012 and my supporters made pledges after seeing my pitch on Twitter, Facebook & my Wordpress blog. People pledged locally, nationally and as far a field as America!
After the great support the first time around I would like to gather this support again.
The studio is based in the small but beautiful and historic Derbyshire Village of Cromford and within the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site. The building itself is steeped in local history, being the village jail in the 1700's (one of the first of its kind in the country), hence its name!

The studio has an ethos of 'art for all' and promotes this through running a children's art class, children’s art workshops during the school holidays and other art based work with the children in the local community. There are also life drawing classes available and these are for everyone & anyone regardless of their ability or skill in drawing.
Every 3 months the studio holds a one night only event called 'Salon' where up to 18 Regional & International artists exhibit their work. The event also has live music. The Salon exhibitions have been an almighty success & have enabled artists to come together and meet buyers & arts admirers alike.
I want to continue developing the 'The Old Lock Up' into a thriving, creative hub which has the potential to open up a wealth of opportunities for local artists and the local community.
'The Old Lock Up' has a lot of potential to provide many more creative opportunities for the local community and artists within the Derbyshire Dales!!
I have the positivity, commitment, energy and enthusiasm needed to make sure the studio succeeds and I am hoping for interest from people with similar passion.
