The Project
The project consists of a period of development on my new show Rosie’s Pop Diary followed by a 10-date tour in Spring and late Summer 2012. The show premiered over the Summer Fringe season 2011 at Oxfringe, Buxton and Edinburgh, achieving 4 and 5 star reviews (quotes below) but suffered from being mis categorised in the wrong section of the programme (comedy). Acclaimed director Anthony Shrubsall (who previously worked with renowned performance poet Zena Edwards) saw Rosie’s Pop Diary at Buxton Fringe where he was working with Richard Tyrone-Jones. He was so excited by the artistic potential, he has already donated a day of his time workshopping the show with me. A full period of development will see Anthony working on characterisation and narrative, dramatic threads and taking the show in a more theatrical, storytelling direction.

About the show
Rosie’s Pop Diary combines storytelling and comedy with my own music for the first time. Unveiling a treasured archive of fan letters, old photos, embarrassing lyrics and old reviews, I look back at my original 1990s musical diaries which were published in the now defunct Making Music magazine and investigate the nature of nostalgia and memory. Whilst also looking at the impact that new technology and the Internet had on the music and publishing industries.
